Support Lacrosse in Martin County
Friends of High School Lacrosse for Martin County is providing leadership through organizing and fund raising and Martin County Lacrosse is their website.
Until recently there was no Lacrosse in Martin County - no youth league, no teams in any of the Martin County Schools. In 2005 a youth Lacrosse League was formed call Martin County Pioneer Lacrosse.
Creation of the youth Lacrosse league was Driven by the efforts of Christopher Anderson - father of 3 boys - who wanted his sons to play Lacrosse. The Anderson’s moved to Florida from the Northeast where Lacrosse is more prevalent. So he worked with other parents and Martin County Parks and Recreation to start the youth league.
The first season of Martin County Pioneer Lacrosse had about 120 boys and girls and in the 2009 season there were over 300 players. But because there was no High School Lacrosse players reached 8th grade (the oldest youth league age) and had no way to continue playing.
In The summer of 2009 the Martin County Florida School Board approved Lacrosse in the 3 high schools. Girls Lacrosse will be a varsity sport and Boys Lacrosse will be a club team. As a club team the boys must provide their own organization and funding, which is the mission of the Support Lacrosse website.
The website makes it easy for supporters to make a donation, learn about the sport of Lacrosse, see photos of Lacrosse in Martin County, Florida, and keep up to date on events and activities.
A professional website can also help a organization in its fund raising. Potential contributors can learn about the effort and be acknowledged.
Netbuilders, Inc, donated it’s time to build MartinCountyLacrosse.org and strongly supports the effort.
