Keymorada Fly-Spin Tournament

The Internet is a powerful tool for charities to raise awareness, provide useful information, and raise money. Keymorada was created by Mitch Widom whose daughter was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 2004.

As an an attorney in south Florida, Mitch Widom decided to use his love for fishing as a way to raise awareness and money for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. He created an annual fishing tournament that raises charitable contributions through sponsorships and the Law Firm Challenge.

Law firms from all over the country compete to become the “Keymorada Champion Law Firm” by making tax deductible cash contributions. Law firms have been at the forefront of assisting worthwhile charities such as the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America.

The wining Law Firm receives a special trophy and keeps that trophy for one year. In 2006 over 125 law firms participated and helped raise over $300,000. All contribution go directly to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.

Keymoradafishing.com is built using a powerful web publishing system called Expression Engine – made by Pmachine. This allows the Keymorada team to add new content and make changes on their own. This is especially important in this case because almost all the people working on the Keymorada website are donating their time.

Bill Hebson is one of South Florida’s premier personal trainers and fitness experts. Bill’s cutting edge workout routines have taken his client athletes to the NFL, Major League Baseball, the Olympic Games, Wimbledon, Pipeline, and even Mt. Everest.

Putting Fitness Online
For Bill, Workout America is a way to reach fitness enthusiasts beyond South Florida. "The website lets extend my customer base. Our primary focus is help people take advantage of their gym membership so we have created workout routines, with photos, that you can take with you to the gym. So many people pay a gym every month but either don’t go or don’t get any results" says Bill.

At Net Builders we don’t build websites for hire but Bill is a personal friend. We volunteered our time for planning the site and recommended top web designer Reid Stott to do the design and code the templates. The team at Net Builders and Reid Stott worked with Bill to create the initial version of Workout America. It’s important to get a first version of a new site up and running without trying to do everything right out of the gate. Of course there is a long list of work still to do - a website is never done.

Building WorkOut America
WorkOut America is built so that Bill can add new pages or edit existing pages on his own. These days there is no excuse for buiding sites that require hand coding - All Net Builders sites are built with a web publishing system. We typically use either TextPattern or Expression Engine . Text Pattern is our simple solution - it allows a user to post new articles and make changes to existing articles. It also allows commenting by visitors.

Expression Engine is used to build sites that want to offer membership. Many small business website owners want to build a community - allow people to register, login and get access to a private area.
